Charolais The Charolais story at Allanfauld started in 1970, with the purchase of the bull, Mindrum Elite, for 580gns. This was for use in the 300-strong suckler cow herd. > The first female bought was Mearns Ecorse, followed in 1977 with the purchase of the small Wheatrig herd. A bull calf from that herd, Wheatrig Major, gave us our first Perth Charolais champion- we’re still waiting for the second! The purchase of Acton Semele, the reserve female champion at Flintlock only had three pedigree sons at Allanfauld before his untimely death. They were sold for 10,000gns, 9,000gns, and £6,000.
